Happy New Year!!

That latter part of 2012 was a whirlwind, more like what my old boss on the Hill would call a tsunami. It was crazy! Thank God for grace and mercy because 2013 it starting out spectacular!
In recognition of new beginnings, I cut my hair at the end of the year ( why did I do that again??) and focused exclusively on getting my family room and kitchen together. I never realized how stressful life can be when your resting place isn’t together. There’s a reason why the real estate marker always picks up in the spring and summer– prime time and the most comfortable time to move. During this time of the year, I don’t even want to run into the garage and unload anything because its so called. And forgot about refinishing or staining any furniture. That can all wait until the weather breaks. But for now, I’m making do with what’s within reach. Take a peek..

My Designer Friend – Tashica Morgan

Well, she was my designer first, but after spending so much time with such a free spirit, you can’t avoid developing a friendship.  After having my first child and working on Capitol Hill, my home was suffering from non-aesthetic-itis!  I knew I didn’t have the time necessary to devote to such a project, so I was lucky enough to have a sorority sister introduce me to Tashica Morgan.  My luck must have been extra Irish at the time because the introduction came right before her television debut on the HGTV’s design competition show, “Design Star”.

I didn’t follow the show religiously that season, but what I do know is, it certainly didn’t showcase all Tashica was capable of doing.  I was more than happy with my end product and everyone who walks into my home has nothing but accolades to share.  A seasoned real estate agent even told me it was “the most beautiful home” he has ever been in.  That says a lot!  Tashica took my personal style, meshed it with my love of culture, and came up with something that was child-friendly and maintenance-free. I LOVE  what she did!

Tashica has recently launched her new website and I’m super excited for her.  I feel like I’ve been holding on to a secret for years, and finally the day of the surprise party has arrived and I’m just ready to explode with excitement!  If you get a chance, check out her website here.  And look out for my home pictures, featured here.

p.s. that picture above…that is my home too.  Just beautiful…the home and the designer! pic below is me and my little one having fun during the photo shoot…

Stay Spirited, tm2
