The Minnie – My Namesake…

Last week I dropped my son off at the bus stop and when I hopped back in the car to drop off baby girl to the sitter, I had a very nice text from one of the mom’s at the bus stop (who is a buddy of mine).  She was asking about the pants I had on and where I had gotten them.  I was happy to text back “They are Jcrew Minnies”, and even happier to share that I had them since my first son was about 2 years old.

And although I am ecstatic to be able to say that they still fit after a second baby, I tend to brag more about the quality and how it has managed to still look good.  I mean, I’m not exagerating when I say they are in very good condition.  Considering they are black and have experienced no fading whatsoever…look just as black since the first day I purchased them.  The stretch is still as perfect as Day One.  In fact, my buddy at the bus stop said she liked the fit on me, and it really is the genius of Jcrew because there is just the right amount of stretch in them where it looks comfy and not too tight.

Of course, since then, I have added more colors of the Minnies to my collection, but all of them tend to be show stoppers.  Here are my top three picks:

Minnie Favorites

  1. You definitely need the Classic black–this can be dressed down or up and is the perfect first purchase into the Minnie family.
  2. Some of you here remember these–I wear them for all kinds of occasions.  I really believe you need at least one Minnie that will serve as your pop of color.  I have dressed these up with a peach silk button-up top and leopard heels, and easily dressed down with a summer tank and sandals.
  3. And finally, Chloe from the Chloe Conspiracy wearing a favorite of mine–the wool Minnie.  I love how she pears it with the pop of mint.  Don’t let the wool fool you, you can wear these just about throughout the year, with the exception of the summer, of course.

Well ladies, do you own a pair or are ready to make that purchase?

Until next time..

Double dose of Citron – Jcrew Tippie Cardigan

Double dose of Citron

It has taken me awhile to get with the Jcrew Tippi sweater, but I think I’m finally on board.  I have been looking for a cardigan that offers more length than the Jackie at Jcrew and the Tippi hasn’t let me down.  I picked up the citron color during the promotional sale a few weeks ago and am happy adding it to my wardrobe during this time of transitional weather.  Even gives me the right amount of color for the season and the weight of the sweater makes it a year-round addition.  I’m feeling bright cardigans this right now, so look out for me rocking the Tippi cardigan in neon azalea this season, as well.

All About the Collar

If you subscribe to Jcrew emails, you received one today from Gayle, who is Jcrew’s Fashion Director and sends out emails with regular style tips. She has taken over this duty while our friend Jenna Lyons has taken a backseat to a lot of media…possibly related to her new relationship perhaps?
Anyhoo, it’s always nice to see when your style is in tandem with what the professionals recommend and that’s just what happened to me today! Just yesterday I wore a $5 vintage necklace over the same Jcrew top! Gayle even recommended trying a scarf around the collar, which I plan to do with a scarf from my mother’s closet circa 1970s. I’m totally feeling retro these days and this style of dressing up the collar coincides with that. It really does take a look from blah to yah!

Try it when you can!

Jcrew Spotlight – What I’m Craving

Collection Italian wool dress

This wool collection piece left as fast as it came.  It is completely sold out now (hasn’t been online that long), and I can understand why.  For just under $300, you can have this tailored, classic wool dress that can remain relevant in your closet for years to come.  The color, the price, the cut…all had me at hello.  It is a statement dress in such a subtle way.  Unfortunately for me, they are sold out.  Oh well, maybe a pop-back in the near future? This may be a job for Mickey, my hero! I have to check with the mothership (a la Gigi) to find out the deets on this one!

Until next time my friends,

Stay Shopping, tm2!

UPDATE:  Well, Mickey and his team have done it again!  Dress located and shipped! #teamjcrew all day

Solange Meets Madewell

Solange is the new muse for Madewell’s 2012 Fall Campaign! This was such a smart choice by Madewell & Jcrew. I had to send Mickey Drexler kudos to the person who made the executive decision! This is such an organic collaberation! She already has that “Madewell” style and she has long been a Jcrew fan. This will motivate me to put more Madewell items in my closet–and I’m going to kickstart this by attending the Madewell fashion event tomorrow happening across the country.

The only thing left for Mickey to do (and I made mention of this to him on more than one occassion), is officially open a Jrew & Madewll store in Brooklyn (my hometown and Solange’s new home)!!  Mickey, I’d be more than happy to be on the location scouting team!  gratis….

Stay Well, lovelies! tm2

Emerald Green 39.00 Handmade Statement Necklace Daisy

I’m not sure how this mother of four does it, but Danielle Carroll, of Imperfectly Perfect, manages to make time to produce these exquisitely beautiful necklaces that remind me very much of the necklaces I would find at my obsession, Jcrew.  She also manages to do it at a fraction of the cost.  This Emerald Green Daisy Statement necklace is only $39.00.  You guys all know that I love etsy.com because I think there is something special about wearing handmade pieces made with “love” just for you.  :-)   Well, this shop is just another reason why I love etsy! Extra 40% Off Jcrew Final Sale Items

20120716-122448.jpg

I don’t always post when there is a Jcrew sale, but when it is upwards of 40-50% off that’s worth a dedicated post. Although most items are for the summer, you can pick up some really incredible pieces that will carry you through all 4 seasons (don’t forget, think layers!). For the quality and price alone, it justifies a shopping trip.
Sale is both in-store and online so happy shopping!

Stay shopping, tm2.

Jcrew Preppy? Not Exactly!

20120714-131755.jpg

Headed out tonight and decided to wear my Jcrew Wyatt Buckle heels that I grabbed for $65! These Italian leather babies retailed for $268 last summer but eventually went on sale for $89.99 with an additional 30% off. I wasn’t sure how they would fit, but now I wish I bought every color! The straps are adjustable, decent heel height, and the leather is butter-soft. They sold out quickly after going ob sale. Every time I look at these shoes it reminds me of how much Jcrew has evolved over the years. They are certainly well passed the preppy catalog company I used to buy from in college. Whenever I feel like dressing downtown Brooklyn chic, I can quickly mix and match my Jcrew pieces to achieve just that!

Keep ‘crewin, tm2
